Service Description
AI-Powered Trip Planning
TripAlta uses AI (powered by Google Gemini and OpenAI) to help you create personalized travel itineraries. Our assistant guides trip creation and generates day-by-day plans based on the information you provide. Your conversation and trip content are sent to these AI providers to generate responses.
Important: AI output is a suggestion based on available data and may be incomplete or inaccurate. We do not guarantee the accuracy, availability, pricing, or quality of recommended destinations, activities, or accommodations.
Core Features
- • Trip Creation: Build trips with the AI assistant or a manual form.
- • Itinerary Management: Day-by-day planning with list, timeline, places, and calendar views.
- • Budget & Expense Tracking: Set budgets, log expenses, and split expenses with collaborators.
- • Collaboration: Share trips with collaborators (the number allowed depends on your subscription plan) using Owner, Editor, or Viewer roles.
- • Checklists & Notes: Pre-trip checklists and rich trip notes.
- • Photo Management: Upload and organize trip photos (upload size limits depend on the upload type and your plan).
- • Bookings: Search and book flights, stays, activities, and eSIMs through our integrated travel suppliers.
- • Mobile Apps: iOS and Android apps with offline support.
- • Notifications: Email (via SparkPost), in-app, and mobile push (via Expo) notifications.
Service Limitations
- • AI recommendations are suggestions, not guarantees of availability, pricing, or quality.
- • Availability may be affected by maintenance and updates.
- • Some features and limits depend on your plan (Free, Explorer, or Pro).
- • You must independently verify all travel information (dates, times, prices, availability, entry requirements).
- • Travel and connectivity bookings are fulfilled by third-party suppliers — Duffel and FlightAware (flights), Nuitee/LiteAPI (stays), Viator (activities), and Airalo (eSIMs). TripAlta facilitates these bookings.
Subscription & Billing
Available Plans
Billing Terms
- • Payment Methods: Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express.
- • Billing Cycle: Monthly or annual, as selected at checkout.
- • Automatic Renewal: Paid subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- • No Free Trial: Paid plans do not include a separate free trial. You can evaluate TripAlta on the Free plan before upgrading.
- • Price Changes: We will notify you at least 30 days before any price increase takes effect.
- • Upgrades / Downgrades: Upgrades take effect immediately (prorated); downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period.
Subscription Refunds
Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. You may cancel at any time to stop future renewals.
- • Subscription fees, including partial billing periods and unused time, are non-refundable except where applicable law requires a refund.
- • Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not trigger a refund for the current period.
- • Where local consumer law grants you a refund or withdrawal right, that right applies and prevails over this section.
Cancellation
- • Cancel anytime from your account settings via the Stripe-powered billing portal.
- • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
- • You keep paid features until the period ends, then your account reverts to the Free plan.
- • Your trips and data are preserved unless you delete your account.
- • No cancellation fees or penalties.
Flight Booking Terms
Booking Providers
Flight services are provided through our travel partners:
- • Duffel: Flight booking, order management, and card payment processing.
- • FlightAware: Flight status and tracking information.
When you book a flight, you enter into a contract with the operating airline(s) for the transportation, and the airline’s and Duffel’s fare rules govern the booking. TripAlta facilitates the booking and is not the airline.
Passenger Information
- • Full legal name (exactly as on government-issued ID), date of birth, and gender as required by the airline.
- • Contact email and phone number.
- • For international travel, passport and nationality details may be required.
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of passenger information. Passenger details (including date of birth and any loyalty numbers) are shared with Duffel and the operating airline to complete the booking. Incorrect information may result in denied boarding or additional fees.
Cancellations, Changes & Refunds
- • Cancellation and change rights depend on the airline and fare type; refundable and non-refundable fares differ.
- • Any applicable fees are disclosed at the time of booking.
- • TripAlta facilitates cancellation and change requests through Duffel. Where a fare is refundable, refunds are governed by the airline’s and Duffel’s rules, and any amount returned to your card is subject to those rules and processing times.
- • The operating airline is responsible for the flight itself, including schedule changes, delays, cancellations, and baggage.
Refund eligibility for flights ultimately rests with the operating airline under its fare rules. See Duffel order cancellation & airline fare rules.
Passenger Rights
For EU/UK flights, your statutory passenger rights (for example under EU Regulation 261/2004) are owed by the operating airline, not TripAlta. We are not liable for airline operational issues.
Stay Booking Terms
Booking Provider
Stay bookings are processed through Nuitee (powered by LiteAPI), a stay aggregation service. When you book a stay, you enter into a contract with the property for the accommodation, and guest details are shared with the property. TripAlta facilitates the booking.
Guest Information
- • Lead guest name (as shown on ID).
- • Contact email and phone number.
- • Number of guests per room.
- • Special requests (subject to availability).
Special requests are forwarded to the property but are not guaranteed.
Rates, Cancellation & Refunds
- • Rates are shown in your selected currency, with taxes and fees indicated where applicable.
- • Each rate’s cancellation policy (refundable vs. non-refundable) and any free-cancellation deadline are shown before you book.
- • No-shows may be charged the full stay amount, and some properties require a card for incidentals at check-in.
- • Refunds: TripAlta is the merchant of record for stays. When a booking is cancelled within its policy, eligible refunds are issued by TripAlta to your original payment method via Stripe, subject to the rate’s cancellation rules.
Each rate’s cancellation policy (set by the property via our stay partner) governs whether and how much is refundable. See Nuitee (LiteAPI) terms & hotel cancellation policy.
Property Responsibility
The property is responsible for the accommodation and on-site services. TripAlta is not liable for overbookings or differences between advertised and actual room conditions; such claims must be directed to the property.
Activity Booking Terms
Booking Provider
Activity, tour, and experience bookings are processed through Viator, a leading tours and activities platform (Viator, a Tripadvisor company). When you book an activity, you enter into a contract with the tour operator or activity provider.
TripAlta facilitates the booking. Viator is the merchant of record for activities and collects payment through its hosted checkout.
Participant Information
- • Lead participant name.
- • Contact email and phone number.
- • Number of participants.
- • Any details required by the specific activity (e.g., accessibility needs or fitness requirements).
You are responsible for ensuring all participants meet the activity’s requirements. Some activities have age, health, or fitness restrictions.
Cancellations, Changes & Refunds
- • Cancellation policies are set by the tour operator. Many activities offer free cancellation up to a stated deadline before start time.
- • Some activities are non-refundable, as clearly indicated at booking.
- • Because Viator is the merchant of record, refunds and reschedules are handled by Viator under its policies. TripAlta cannot itself refund an activity; post-travel cases may require contacting Viator support directly.
Activity cancellation and refund eligibility are decided by Viator and the tour operator under Viator’s policy. See Viator Help Center (cancellations & refunds).
Operator Responsibility
The tour operator or activity provider is responsible for conducting the activity safely and as described. TripAlta is not liable for the quality of tours, injuries, accidents, or issues arising during activities; such claims must be directed to the operator through Viator.
eSIM Terms
Connectivity Provider
eSIM data packages, top-ups, and provisioning are provided through Airalo and its mobile network partners. Coverage, speeds, data allowances, and validity are determined by Airalo and the underlying networks. TripAlta is the merchant of record for eSIM orders, which are charged through Stripe.
Order & Delivery
- • Your email address (or a gift-recipient email you provide) is shared with Airalo to deliver the eSIM and provisioning details (QR code / activation information).
- • Your device must support eSIM and be carrier unlocked. You are responsible for confirming device compatibility before purchase.
- • Activation and coverage depend on local network availability.
- • Plan-included eSIM benefits are limited to only one eSIM per trip per paying customer unless TripAlta expressly states otherwise.
Refunds
- • eSIM refunds are request-based and reviewed by TripAlta after reconciliation with Airalo. Submitting a request does not guarantee a refund, and refunds may be limited by Airalo’s policy and applicable law.
- • If we are unable to fulfill an order or top-up, the related charge is refunded to your original payment method via Stripe.
- • Activated or used data packages are generally non-refundable except where required by law.
eSIM refund eligibility is ultimately constrained by Airalo’s policy. See Airalo Terms of Use (refunds & withdrawal).
Payment Terms
Subscription Payments
Subscription payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. TripAlta does not store your full card number.
- • Visa, Mastercard, American Express accepted.
- • Charges occur on your billing date.
- • Subscription prices are shown in USD unless otherwise stated.
Booking Payments
- • Flights: Card details are entered into and handled directly by Duffel’s PCI-DSS compliant payment component.
- • Stays: Card details are entered into LiteAPI’s hosted payment component; TripAlta is the merchant of record and any eligible refunds are issued via Stripe.
- • Activities: Payment is collected by Viator through its hosted checkout; Viator is the merchant of record.
- • eSIMs: Charged through Stripe; TripAlta is the merchant of record.
Each payment provider’s terms apply to the relevant transaction.
Affiliate Links & Outbound Bookings
Some options (for example certain flight or car-rental links) send you to third-party sites such as Kiwi.com or Booking.com through the Awin affiliate network, and airport transfers are offered via an embedded WelcomePickups widget. TripAlta may earn an affiliate commission on resulting purchases. Those bookings are made with, and governed solely by the terms of, the third party, not TripAlta.
Currency & Pricing
- • Prices are shown in your selected currency.
- • Conversion rates are provided by our payment partners; your bank may apply foreign-transaction fees.
- • The final charge may vary slightly due to currency fluctuations.
Refunds Summary
- • Subscriptions: Non-refundable except where required by applicable law.
- • Bookings: Governed by the relevant supplier’s cancellation policy and applicable law. Stays and eSIMs are refunded by TripAlta via Stripe where eligible; flights and activities follow the airline/Duffel and Viator processes respectively.
- • Refunds are returned to the original payment method; timing depends on the processor and your bank.

You retain ownership of the content you create, upload, or share on TripAlta, including trips, itineraries, notes, and photos ("Your Content").
You grant TripAlta a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, subject to legal retention requirements.

- • The Service, including its software, design, logos, and trademarks, is owned by TripAlta or its licensors.
- • You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without permission.
- • You may use the Service only as permitted by these Terms.

Liability & Disclaimers
TripAlta is a planning and booking facilitator. We’re not liable for third-party travel services, and our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Important Disclaimers
- • AI Recommendations: Our AI (powered by Google Gemini and OpenAI) provides suggestions, not guarantees of accuracy, availability, quality, or safety.
- • Travel Information: Verify all details — including dates, prices, availability, and entry/visa requirements — independently with official sources. Visa information shown via Sherpa is informational only.
- • Booking Services: TripAlta facilitates bookings through suppliers (Duffel, FlightAware, Nuitee/LiteAPI, Viator, Airalo). The actual services are provided by airlines, properties, tour operators, and network partners.
- • Third-Party Services: We are not responsible for third-party suppliers or their terms and practices. Your contract for travel services is with the supplier, not TripAlta.
- • Travel Risks: Travel involves inherent risks. You are responsible for your safety, health, and compliance with local laws.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- • TripAlta is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
- • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid TripAlta in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- • We are not liable for travel delays, cancellations, booking errors, lost luggage, accidents, or injuries.
- • We provide the Service "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, except as required by law.
- • Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including statutory consumer rights).
Governing Law & Disputes
- • Governing Law: These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or to your use of TripAlta, are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Where it applies, the Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of the arbitration agreement below.
- • Informal Resolution: Before starting an arbitration or court proceeding, contact support@tripalta.com and give us at least 30 days to try to resolve the dispute informally.
- • Binding Arbitration: Except for the matters listed under “Exceptions,” you and TripAlta agree to resolve any dispute by final and binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. Judgment on the arbitrator’s award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
- • Class Action Waiver: Disputes will be arbitrated only on an individual basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you and TripAlta waive any right to bring or participate in a class, collective, consolidated, or representative action, and the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claims.
- • Exceptions: Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies, and either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in court for actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or unauthorized use of intellectual property or unauthorized access to the service. If the class-action waiver is held unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim (and only that claim) will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and TripAlta consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
- • 30-Day Opt-Out: You may opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing support@tripalta.com with your name, account email, and a clear statement that you opt out of arbitration. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.
- • Mandatory Local Rights: If you are a consumer, nothing in this section deprives you of the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. Where local law requires, those protections and the competent local courts apply regardless of the choices above.
This dispute-resolution section is subject to final review by TripAlta’s legal counsel before it is relied upon.
Travel Insurance
We recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance for your bookings. TripAlta does not provide travel insurance, and our liability limitations do not cover losses that travel insurance would typically address.
Termination
Termination by You
- • You may request deletion of your account from your account settings.
- • You may cancel your subscription without deleting your account; it then reverts to the Free plan.

General product, planning, subscription, and account support is tiered by plan: Free receives best-effort email support, Explorer receives email support, and Pro receives priority email routing.
Booking-related questions and issues for bookings made through TripAlta receive priority routing regardless of subscription plan. This includes booking changes, cancellations, refunds, payment issues, supplier handoffs, eSIM delivery or activation problems, and other issues tied to a TripAlta booking. Priority routing does not change supplier rules or create a guaranteed response time.
